The Profit and Loss nominal codes currently used in Sage Payroll are too restrictive and provide for only 3 headings, Gross Wages, Employer's NI, and Employer's Pension.
To assist current and to widen the appeal of the product to prospective new clients the system needs to allow for nominal postings to be made on a Pay Element basis.
This could be achieved by one of two ways, expanding the existing set up so that all pay elements (both payments and deductions) are represented on the Salary Journal Report > Link Nominal Codes settings; and/or
include a nominal code within the pay element settings itself.
Similar functionality is already available in Sage 50 Payroll and should be present in the online offering also. The absence of the functionality gives rise to users having to manually analyse payslips for manually posting in their accounting software.
