I thought that by ticking the Student loan box in the employee details screen, the student loan deduction would appear automatically when the payroll is run, but after being told by HMRC that we missed a month's deduction I have now found out that we have to add it as a deduction when running the payroll. PAYE and NI deductions appear automatically, so why don't Student loan deductions appear automatically?
